Jay, the head chef at The Plate, has a 10-year experience in making sushi and has been running Sakesushi in Ucluelet, BC since 2019. With a customer-oriented approach and a passion for food, he strives to satisfy his customers by incorporating the sensibilities of Korea, Japan, and Italy. After gaining experience in managing restaurants in Korea and Canada, Jay fulfilled his dream of opening his own Japanese restaurant in Ucluelet. Now, he and his wife April own and operate The Plate, an Italian restaurant with a touch of Korean fusion, since June 2023, in Nanaimo. They offer a creative and delightful menu that includes Italian dishes such as spaghetti, risotto, and pilaf with a unique twist. Join them for lunch and dinner to experience their culinary creations.
